Bandwidth
Server Hosting clients have two options when it comes to monthly data transfer. Clients can choose between purchasing data transfer per month or 64Kb data connections. With data transfer, clients get between 3GB (Server Rental Option) and 2GB (Co-Locations Option) free data transfer per month. Once a client has exceeded these free limits, they will get billed per additional MB that their server transfers. This billing process works on a sliding scale.

Clients on 64Kb data connections can increase the data rate to their server by purchasing additional 64KB data blocks. Clients can have data transfer rates of 128Kb, 192Kb, 256Kb and higher.

Restrictions
ALTONet does not allow e-mail spamming on its network.

DNS Services
DNS is provided at no charge for server clients. This service does not include any interaction with the NIC or any work involved with domain transfers or modifications. It includes only configuration changes made to our name serves.

E-Mail Services
E-mail software is not installed on MS Windows rented servers. Should a client wish to run mail accounts directly off of his server, he will need to purchase and install his own mail software. All additional software installed on rental servers must be fully licensed. E-mail software comes standard with all LINUX rented servers.

Clients with rented or co-location servers can make use of the ALTONet mail servers if required at an additional cost per mailbox.

Support
Support services on rented and co-location servers are based on support contracts. Support contracts for standard business hours as well as 24 hour support contracts are available. Clients with both rented and co-location servers are strongly urged to make use of this service.

Additional Software
Norton Anti Virus can be installed on a client's rented Windows 2000 server at an additional once off cost. Any additional software that a client wishes to install or run on a server has to be supplied by the client. This includes software like MS SQL, SQL 2000, MS Exchange, etc. ALTONet does not rent out software. All additional software installed on rental servers must be fully licensed by the client.

All software used on co-location servers, including the OS, has to be supplied by the client and must be fully licensed.

Data Backups
Clients can make use of the ALTONet data back-up network at an additional charge. Full back-ups are conducted once a week and incremental back-ups are conducted daily. File system and SQL database back-ups are conducted by our technical team. Back-up of open files systems is available.

IP Addresses
Each server comes standard with 1 IP address. In the vast majority of cases this is more than sufficient. In the event that you require more than one IP address for your machine, these can be rented on a monthly basis. IP addresses remain the property of ALTONet at all times.

Server Administration
Windows servers are administered remotely by Terminal Services. LINUX servers are administered remotely by SSH.

Security
For all dedicated and co-location servers, ALTONet provides physical security, network security, air-conditioned server room, fire protection, and backup power generators. This all ensures maximum protection for servers at all times.

Power Backup
24/7/365 UPS power backup is standard on all dedicated and co-location server accounts and is provided free of charge.
