SSL Server Certificates will enable SSL (Secure Socket Layer) on your web server, thereby giving you the ability to communicate securely with your online customers. SSL protects all communications with your customers, so you can take credit card orders and protect sensitive personal information. 40bit SSL is an efficient and very popular web server certificate.

An SSL Certificate is valid for one or two years. Thereafter you will need to renew the certificate. Average turnaround time from receipt of your registration documentation and payment is three business days, provided that your documentation is in order.

Required Documents
Before a server certificate can be issued, we have to be absolutely certain that the certificate is being issued to the correct company. By "correct" we mean the company that is being certified owns the Internet domain name which requires the digital certificate.

The registered name of the company / individual applying for the certificate must be exactly the same as that of the domain name owner. If your company name is Moon Cafe (Pty) Ltd, then your domain name must be registered in the name of Moon Cafe (Pty) Ltd and not just Moon Cafe. If there is any difference in the actual company name and the name of the Internet domain name owner, then the certificate registration request will be rejected.

Registrations in a Company Name
If your application is being made in the name of a company (CC, Pty Ltd or Ltd), then the following documents need to be faxed to us:

1)	Complete company registration documents
2)	Cancelled blank cheque
3)	Original domain name registration documents (ALTONet can obtain this if you do not have it already)

Registrations in an Individual's Name
If your application is being made in your private capacity, sole trader or partnership, the following documents need to be faxed to us:

1)	A copy of your ID Document / Passport
2)	Cancelled blank cheque
3)	Original domain name registration documents (ALTONet can obtain this if you do not have it already)

Please Note: Payment has to be made at the same time your application is submitted. No application will be processed without receipt of payment.
