Diginet Internet access is a high speed, dedicated, synchronous data transfer service. It provides round-the-clock, secure, high quality, point-to-point services over a digital transmission network.

Diginet Internet access is aimed at customers who utilise their data network for most of the day on applications needing constant bandwidth. ALTONet's Diginet services can convey digital speech and video signals, allowing users to develop highly efficient integrated voice/data networks offering new opportunities in the growing broadband multimedia market.

Direct Connectivity

That's why our network connects you directly to the Internet by using a high-speed, fully-redundant link. In addition to connecting to all major public Network Access Points in South Africa, there are private interconnections with all major Internet carriers worldwide.

Router Solution
The router that is used at your premises must be able to route IP traffic. At ALTONet we recommend a Cisco router, such as the Cisco 1601 (1 ethernet LAN, 1 WAN port). ALTONet will configure your router and install packet filters if required. Clients who do not have their own router, can either purchase or rent a router directly from ALTONet.

Connectivity Options
ALTONet offers its clients two Diginet options, namely Diginet Basic and Diginet Plus. Diginet Basic offers speeds of 64 kbps and is aimed at small to medium organisations, whilst Diginet Plus offers speeds from 128 kbps up to 2048 kbps in 64 bit/s increments, and is aimed at medium to large organisations which have higher bandwidth needs.

ALTONet's wide range of data transmission speeds allows you to grow your services as required, and our fixed tariff scheme enables you to manage budgets more effectively by knowing your costs upfront.

Connectivity can be mixed and matched depending on the amount of local and international connectivity that is required.

The following connectivity options are available:

National-International Dedicated Access:
This is a 64kb/s circuit with 16kb/s guaranteed international access.

Dedicated International Internet Connectivity:
Dedicated International connectivity can be purchased in any multiple of 16kb/s or 64kb/s.

Local Only Non-guaranteed Connectivity:
Local connectivity is offered on our national backbone at a maximum of three times the amount of National-International connectivity purchased, eg: For every 64Kb/s of National-International Dedicated Access you purchase, you can purchase three 64 Kb/s blocks of Local Only Connectivity. Purchasing ALTOnet's National-International Dedicated Access Service of at least 64 Kb/s is required to qualify for purchasing Local Only Connectivity.

Diginet Offers Savings
Because Diginet is a leased line service you pay a fixed monthly rental regardless of the amount of traffic you send over the link. Unlike ADSL, there is no monthly traffic cap on Diginet.
